Red Flag Over Paris

A two-player card-driven wargame set during the two-month Paris Commune of 1871. Players take opposing roles—government forces based in Versailles and the revolutionary Commune—competing for control across military and political dimensions that include political institutions, public opinion, city neighborhoods, and outer forts. Each card depicts a personality or event and can be used for its event effect, operational actions to place or remove influence, to buy an opponent’s event, or to build momentum. Players balance military operations with political influence, manage scarce resources, and cultivate momentum—Versailles by coordinating with Prussia, the Commune by sustaining popular mobilization—before a Final Crisis round resolves remaining cards and decides victory.
