Which column of cards do you want? Choose it at the same time as everyone else, and hope no one else chooses it. If multiple players select the same column, discard its final card and choose again until each player claims a different column. Add the cards you collect to your collection, then score sets of kings, knights, churches, and other symbols. Continue through several rounds, removing marked cards after the first scoring, and win with the highest combined score.
