In Jilaskan, alabaster supports the prosperity of the Praios-worshipping island and supplies its temples with stone for altars, statues, and candle holders. When heretics block the quarries, the heroes are hired to restore the deliveries. In the settlement of Praiosdank, they become involved in an intrigue over the island’s rule. The Praetor fears for his authority, the ancient countess faces an uncertain future, and a forgotten former ruler reaches for the throne. The investigation involves a fallen star, a magically gifted priestess, conflict within the Praios Church, and a long-hidden secret. Diplomatic skill and determination are required.
