Players act as railway investors during the mid-19th century as governments sponsor national rail networks. Each player founds and operates companies, buys and sells shares, lays track on a hex map, and runs trains to collect revenue. The game unfolds in phases: early play features small private companies with simple operations, then introduces mergers, larger corporations, and a national railway as technology and regulation advance. Players must manage cash, company capitalization, and share price while adapting to government rules that can force company absorption.
