Carthage: The First Punic War – The Ancient World, Vol. II

A strategic simulation of the Punic conflicts between Rome and Carthage, focused on campaigns in Sicily, Italy, Sardinia, Corsica and North Africa across the First Punic War and related episodes. Players manage armies, fleets and political institutions over year-long turns: build and maneuver fleets, fight galley battles, besiege and reduce cities, raise militia and sally garrisons, recruit allied and mercenary contingents, and handle political appointments and manpower resources. The game uses a detailed combat system with elephants, cavalry pursuit and unpredictable results, multiple map scales, extensive counters representing period forces and leaders, and scenarios ranging from short episodic battles to the full twenty-year war.
