Shakespeare

Gestisci una compagnia teatrale londinese durante una settimana frenetica, mentre i manager reclutano e dirigono una troupe per conquistare il favore della Regina. I giocatori scelgono e ingaggiano carte personaggio (attori, artigiani, un gioielliere, assistenti, ecc.), assegnandole da 1 a 5 azioni al giorno, e devono bilanciare prove, realizzazione dei costumi e delle scenografie e incarichi speciali. Gli attori provano le scene per ottenere bonus durante le prove generali dei giorni quattro e sei; costumisti e scenografi forniscono gli elementi richiesti e la simmetria necessaria per ricompense più alte; gli assistenti potenziano gli artigiani e il gioielliere fornisce elementi d’oro per un impatto extra. Le regole sull’atmosfera quotidiana e sul riposo impongono scelte difficili tra far lavorare subito i personaggi e averli disponibili in seguito. Alla fine della partita i giocatori pagano gli stipendi e calcolano il prestigio; vince chi ha più prestigio.

This is a really solid euro game where players hire actors, make costumes and design sets in preparation for putting on a play. The game is very tight. Every action and every point counts. The turn order mechanism rewards players for doing less, which is an interesting cost/benefit analysis. With one exception, action spots only refresh every other turn, so managing your actions is a fun mini game as well. I enjoyed playing this game immensely, but after playing, I don't feel anxious for a second play. If someone were to bring it by and want to play it I'd be happy to, but a lot of times after playing a game like this I'm anxious to take another crack at it, but here I don't feel that same pressure. I think it's because you sort of see everything the game does in a single play. You see all the tokens, and all the cards. The order in which those cards come out will give the game some replayability, but there's maybe not quite enough going on in the end to make me want to revisit it. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ☆ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★☆☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment
