Uxmal

Players act as priests competing for the title of High Priest by earning the favour of the city’s gods. On each turn, players pray at shrines, perform rituals, and place or manipulate offerings to gain influence with different idols. God favour shifts over the course of the game, and players can use blessings and curses to alter the balance of power and disrupt rivals’ plans. Victory is determined by accumulated reverence and political standing at the end of the game.

On your turn you place a tile into the pyramid, or place your priest marker onto a space on the pyramid, or discard cards to advance the matching god on the valuation chart. The pyramid has icons for different gods, and when you place your pyramid piece in the correct way so it covers the same symbol, you get two cards of that god. The round ends when the last pyramid piece of the current level is placed, then players get points if their prist tokens are standing on the right gods, or if they discard the cards matching those gods from their hands. The game basically flows where at the start of the round players build the pyramid, taking cards, then panic to get their guys on the map, then panic discarding cards to jockey around the god valuations, until finally someone feels like it's good enough and pulls the trigger finishing off the level. Your pyramid tile draws are blind from the box, so you can't really choose what to focus on. What it amounts to is a turn order driven mess where your choices barely matter. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :nostar: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
