Western Town

I giocatori interpretano dei marshal che sviluppano piccole città di frontiera nei primi anni ’60 dell’Ottocento, competendo per popolazione, attrattiva e oro. Ogni giocatore costruisce sulla propria plancia cittadina, collocando edifici che forniscono abilità e risorse in evoluzione, mentre gestisce la crescita e le scelte limitate di ogni round. Ogni round mette in evidenza sei edifici bonus scelti da un insieme di ventidue, costringendo i giocatori ad adattare le proprie strategie e a sfruttare nuove combinazioni. Le visite presidenziali assegnano periodicamente punti alle città in base a criteri variabili, mentre eventi occasionali—tra cui razzie e tattiche sociali—influenzano la pianificazione e l’interazione.

Decent game. The rulebook is bad at explaining the rules, and the iconography takes some getting used to, but once we got going, we were having a good time. In this game, you get five rounds to build your town and then you score based on how much the accumulated Lincon cards like what you've done, plus your building points. In our game, I had trouble knowing what to focus on, as there is a card play element similar to Glass Road, where other players can get benefits from your stuff if they predict correctly what you are going to play. You are also at risk when you take certain actions of being attacked by Native Americans, (who yes, as sadly represented as colored red and orange meeples). ☆ Art and components ★ Innovative mechanics ☆ Handles 5 or more players ☆ Good with min or max players ★ Low time between turns ★ Comfortable complexity ★ Re-playability ★☆☆ Enjoyment
