Codenames: Deep Undercover

Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents while their teammates see only the codenames. Teams compete to contact all their agents first by interpreting one-word clues that may point to multiple words on the grid. Players take turns giving clues and guessing codenames, trying to select words that match their team’s color while avoiding the opposing team’s words and the single assassin. The game supports standalone play or mixing its cards with other sets.

Codenames tries to be Cards Against Humanity. Maybe I'd appreciate this if I enjoyed the Codenames system more, but I really don't. The one thing I liked about Codenames was feeling clever, and this wipes what little there was of that away pretty thoroughly. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :nostar: Clever or interesting mechanisms :nostar: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
