2人のプレイヤーが銀河規模の戦いで敵対する陣営に分かれ、目標デッキと、キャラクター、ビークル、ドロイド、イベント、強化カードで構成されたリンク済みのプレイヤーカードセットを指揮します。 プレイヤーはユニットを場に展開し、敵の目標を攻撃し、自分の目標を守り、ゲームの勢力バランスを変動させる継続中のフォースの闘争に戦力を投入します。デッキ構築では、目標とあらかじめ決められた5枚のプレイヤーカードセットを結び付けるため、ゲーム開始前から利用可能な戦略が形作られます。 デス・スターを思わせるダイヤルは、ダークサイドのターンや特定の効果によって進みます。これにより、ライトサイドには、時間切れになる前に一定数の敵の目標を破壊しなければならない、刻々と進むタイマーが課されます。
