Decrypto

Two teams hide a private set of four words behind a screen and give each other numbered codes made up of positions 1–4. On each turn a teammate reads a three-digit code and provides a series of verbal clues to lead their own team to the correct positions while avoiding giving the opposing team enough information to intercept the code. Opponents listen and try to deduce the same three-digit sequence from the clues; correct interceptions earn a white mark, while failed internal guesses earn a black mark. Play continues in rounds until a team collects two white marks (win) or two black marks (loss), with a final showdown to identify the other team’s words if needed.

Excellent party game! Love the mechanics

Won a 25% off coupon for the game, still not sure I want to buy it. It does look interesting, but I'll wait with it for now. Bought it, couldn't get it to the table this Christmas, but I'm sure it'll have the chance soon enough. Finally had our first play, it really is an impressive design. Can be a lot of fun, but the group has to have the right mindset for it. I would love to play this all the time, but unfortunately it's a bit thinkier for a party game than what people are usually willing to play in that kind of situation.

Very fun and easy to play. Best filler. Worth every few €

Regelvragen

Beantwoord vanuit het spelregelboek door de regelassistent van Ludoya.

Can I use one of the four Keywords (or its translation) as a clue?

No — you may not use any of the Keywords (or their translation) as a clue, nor may you read the code out loud (even for another Keyword) (p. 3; reminder p. 7).

Can I give clues that point to spelling, number of letters, pronunciation, or the Keyword’s position on the screen?

No — clues must refer only to the meaning of the Keyword and must never refer to spelling, letter counts, screen position, or pronunciation (p. 3; reminder p. 7).

Can I change or add to a clue after I’ve read it aloud?

No — once a clue has been read aloud you cannot change, modify, or improve it (p. 3).

Can I reuse a clue I already used earlier in the game?

No — you may not use the same clue more than once during the game (p. 3; reminder p. 7).

When are we allowed to attempt to intercept the other team’s code?

Interception attempts begin in Round 2; in Round 1 neither team attempts an interception (gameplay steps and note on Round 1, pp. 2–3; turn-order reminder p. 7).
