Flatiron

Players take the roles of rival construction firms in early 20th-century Manhattan, competing to erect a triangular, multi-story landmark at the intersection of bustling avenues. Each player builds a personal tableau by acquiring and adding cards that expand company capabilities and unlock actions on the surrounding streets. Points accrue primarily through completing construction tasks, with additional scoring for public reputation and compliance with city council decrees. The game ends when the roof is placed; the player with the most points wins.

Juego exclusivo para dos y un jugador. Divertido y tenso.

Do I have to move my Architect every turn, or can I leave it where it is?

You must move your Architect to an empty location each turn — you cannot stay in place or have two Architects in the same location. (See p.5 and the turn overview on p.4.)

When I buy a Street card, can I choose which action I get from that card?

Yes — when you buy the top Street card you place it in that Street column on your board and choose to place it at the top (showing the upper action) or at the bottom (showing the lower action). (See p.5.)

If I visit a Street, do I have to resolve every action in that column?

You must attempt to activate the visible actions in that Street column from top to bottom, but if you cannot or do not want to perform a specific action you may simply ignore it and continue. (See p.6.)

Can I put two Pillars of the same colour on the same Floor?

Normally no — the active Floor cannot contain two Pillars of the same colour, except if the Floor effect specifically allows same-colour Pillars; consult the Floor effects for exceptions. (See p.8 and Floor Effects on p.10.)

When can the Floor or the Roof be built, and what happens when it is built?

You can build a Floor only if the active Floor already has 3 Pillars; pay 5 Dollars to place the face-up Floor (gain 6 VP), then refresh Street cards and reveal the next Floor; the Roof is built the same way and building it ends the game immediately. (See p.9.)

When can I use Newspaper Tokens, and can I use them during an action?

You may use any Newspaper Tokens at any time during your turn but never in the middle of resolving an action; using a token replaces the active Newspaper and if you play multiple tokens you resolve them one at a time. Also, you obtain Newspaper Tokens when you reach the Paperboy on the VP track. (See p.7 and p.11.)
