Players act as monarchs investing in the voyages of six historical explorers, placing ships and bidding with numbered money cards to secure expedition slots. The game runs over three rounds; each explorer starts with three expedition ships but only two advance to round two and one to the final round, so competition for spots tightens as play progresses. Auctions resolve player-by-player until a single winner places a ship on an explorer's area and collects that explorer’s ability, which can provide victory points, income, or special actions. Between rounds players gain new money cards plus income from explorers where they have ships, and final scoring rewards ships that reach later expedition stages and leftover money cards.
