Pompen of Verzuipen

Players receive a 12-card hand from a 1–60 deck and lay out marker cards that indicate how many of their plays are ‘safe.’ Each round two scoring cards are revealed and everyone secretly chooses one card from hand to play; cards resolve simultaneously and are ranked by value. The highest played card takes the lower scoring card, the second-highest takes the other, and remaining plays are discarded. The player who collected the higher total score flips one of their marker cards to show a saved token. After scoring, players pick up their played-and-unplayed cards and pass the entire hand clockwise, so subsequent rounds use the hand previously held by a neighbor. Rounds continue until every player has used each hand; the player with the most saved marker value wins.
