Hangtown

As a pioneer in the California Gold Rush, players compete for riches, resources, property, and prestige while facing outlaws, shootouts, and hangings at the Hangman’s Tree. Each turn, players simultaneously select cards to determine when their pioneers act, then place them at yield sites. Players place and activate workers, collect resources, and build historic buildings, districts, and monuments in their tableaus. The number of pioneers at each site determines whether its result is Boom or Bust, while an advancing outlaw can lock sites into Bust outcomes and trigger a final shootout. Built cards provide abilities and victory points, with events and character roles adding further variety.
