GUBS: A Game of Wit and Luck

I giocatori competono per far crescere la colonia più grande e più forte di piccole creature della foresta prima che tre speciali Carte Lettera facciano terminare la partita. Il gioco combina il draft di carte e la costruzione del tableau con carte Pericolo ed Equipaggiamento che rappresentano minacce (coleotteri, inondazioni, vespe) e difese (lance, barricate di funghi, cavalieri rospo). I giocatori giocano e combinano carte Creatura, Equipaggiamento ed Evento per proteggere ed espandere la propria colonia, ottenendo punti in base alle dimensioni della popolazione e alle strutture sopravvissute, mentre gestiscono il rischio e il tempismo man mano che il mazzo comune avanza verso le lettere che fanno terminare la partita.

Games like Gubs are all over the place, but most of them attempt to be huge undertakings and often become unwieldy and annoying. Gubs manages to take this genre and streamline it, making it a fun, silly game that players will enjoy - and older kids will love. The cute theme, good quality cards, tremendous artwork, and speedy playing time take Gubs and make it into a game that will likely never make the "Top 10 Strategy Games" list but one that will be remembered by those who play it as a fast, frivolous affair. Gubs is full of levity that doesn't bonk you over the head with how clever it is. In today's bloated market with "humorous" games, that's a pleasant change. See my review for more details...
