Wiz-War

I giocatori vestono i panni di maghi rivali che si affrontano all’interno di un labirinto sotterraneo in continuo mutamento. Lanciano incantesimi, evocano creature e piazzano trappole per attaccare gli avversari, difendersi e manipolare il labirinto. La vittoria si ottiene rubando i tesori degli avversari e riportandoli alla propria base, oppure eliminando i maghi rivali; la struttura dei turni e gli incantesimi basati sulle carte determinano il movimento, i combattimenti e gli effetti speciali. Il gioco supporta da 2 a 4 giocatori e pone l’accento sul posizionamento tattico, sulla gestione della mano di carte Incantesimo e sull’interazione diretta tra i giocatori.

Action game between Wizards sending brutal spells to each other! I love the theme and all the posible combinations between cards but it's pretty chaotic and, most of games, the person who draws better, wins.

This is a wacky capture the flag game with wizards! Players run around a maze casting spells at each other, trying to grab other player's flags and bring them back to their bases, without getting zapped away. The game has a focus on take that effects and card luck, but the humor infused in everything makes the game a fun romp rather than build up and crashdown. The only thing that I've found that can lead to the game dragging down is when it's played with 4 players or a lot of obstacle spells wind up in player's hands when also there's a lack of spells to remove them. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ★ Multiple plays stay interesting ☆ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment

I bought this one for myself for my birthday. I'm glad I did, as I really enjoy it. Most players apparently like to use the "both of your treasures are stolen, you lose" mechanic, but that would always end up with me losing, so I don't. I think this would be really fun with 6 or 8 players. Somehow.
