Fire & Axe: A Viking Saga
Play as competing Norse leaders who build crews, outfit longships, and explore the sea to raid, trade, and settle new territories. Each of three saga scenarios presents different objectives and scoring paths; players recruit crew, acquire goods, and choose voyages that favor warfare, commerce, or colonization. Movement, resource management, and area control determine success as ships sail between ports and coastal targets. The game resolves through tactical decisions about where to send forces, how to allocate ship space between fighters and cargo, and when to invest in settlements versus raids.

Tomol8.0 Great game, thematic euro with gorgeous components. I have a home-made version of Blood rage inside this game box
Tom4.1 I stand alone in my group in my slight distaste for the game - everyone else gets a surge of enjoyment from it and don't mind the luck when attacking ports. I can also see how the game has a certain appeal and enjoy the variety of options available. It has tremendous components, a good, imbedded theme, and is simple enough to be explained to new players with ease. I usually don't mind luck in games, and only rant about it here because it can be extremely important at small, critical junctions in the game - and in a two-hour game - I don't necessarily want that. This is certainly a game to try before picking up, as your views may (and probably will) vary. See my review for more details...
