Reiner Knizia's Decathlon

Ten short dice-based events simulate the disciplines of an Olympic decathlon, played with eight dice, pen, and paper. In each event players roll a pool of dice, freeze desired results, and reroll a limited number of times to build scoring combinations and record a result. Players accumulate points across all ten events; higher totals win. Optional variants include an energy mechanic that costs a unit per roll and can affect scoring, and championship-style scoring that awards placement points to event finishers (including a simplified 3/2/1 variant for web-published rules). Rules are available for free from the designer.

I played this as part of an annual tournament for my gaming group and it's a good fun way to spend 10 minutes. Better than the olympics for sure.
