Players command fantasy armies—elves, dwarves, orcs, undead and multiple human factions—customizing forces from a broad roster of unit types. Armies maneuver on geomorphic maps to seize and hold strategic cities and terrain while engaging in tactical battles resolved with straightforward combat rules. Scenarios support one-hour skirmishes or extended campaign play, with variable victory conditions and multiplayer support out of the box. The edition adds new maps and units while remaining compatible with earlier components and optional expansion blocks for additional armies and maps.
