Beyond the Horizon
Players guide a fledgling civilization across exploration, settlement, production and research to build influence over a changing world. The game progresses through variable rounds until a set of end conditions are met; during play, players explore new territories, found cities, produce resources, and invest in technological and cultural advancements. Points come from exploration, city-building, technological progress, and economic or cultural development, and the highest-scoring civilization at the end wins.

The tech tree part of the game, is absolutely great. Awesome, love it. The civilization part of the game, not so much. It takes away my enjoyment of the whole game.
It is more random and multisolitaire than BtS, but it still is one really good game

Can I take a population pawn from a column I haven't activated with my Food track?
Yes. When an effect or basic action lets you take a population pawn from a column, take the next pawn left-to-right even if that column hasn’t been accessed via your Food production track (page 6).
Do scholars ever return to my player board after I assign them to research a technology?
No. Scholars you assign to technology spaces remain on the main board for the entire game and are never returned to your player board (page 7).
Can my soldiers explore and reveal new territory tiles like settlers can?
No. Only settlers may move off the map edge to explore and reveal a new territory tile; soldiers cannot explore new tiles (page 8).
If my settler(s) strength exceeds a tile's requirement, do I keep the leftover strength or a reduced-strength settler?
No. You must exhaust all settlers used to meet the strength requirement (return their pawns to your population columns and tokens to supply); you do not keep any leftover or reduced-strength settler (page 8).
If I meet a goal's conditions, do I have to claim it immediately and can I claim multiple goals on my turn?
You must claim a goal as soon as you satisfy its conditions, and you may claim only one goal card on your turn even if you meet more than one (page 11).
If I build a construction that’s already on the map, do I get the same first‑builder end‑game VP?
No. The second player who builds an existing construction pays the cost, gains the immediate bonus and places a cube on the right spot, but does not receive the left/right first‑builder VP; the first builder earns the left‑space VP (and only receives it if another player later builds the same construction) (page 10).
