Metropolys

Players act as urban planners placing numbered building tiles to bid for prime plots across the city map. On a turn a player selects a space and places a building with a visible bid number; subsequent players may pass or raise the bid by placing a higher-numbered building adjacent to the contest. The final winner locks their building and losing bids return to their owners. Board spaces carry different effects: metro zones score end-game points for majority control, archaeological sites penalize the most recent builder, and fashionable locations grant extra points. Players also pursue up to two secret agendas that award additional prestige when completed. The game ends when a player has placed all their buildings; highest prestige wins.

This is a quick and very enjoyable bidding game that has a city theme, but really isn't a city builder. In essence the buildings you get are your bids. A player puts a cool looking plastic building in a spot, and if another player puts a building that has a higher number in an adjacent spot, they are essentially outbidding them. You play until you are out of buildings, and players score for tokens picked up off the board, one or two achievement cards in their hands, and then tallest in each region.
