Unmatched: Roodkapje vs Beowulf

A fairy-tale hunter and an epic hero clash in a small-scale tactical skirmish. Players move figures on a map, attack with cards, and reduce opponents' health to zero to win. One fighter builds combos by matching icons to a “basket” discard, triggering special effects and utility plays. The other channels rage to empower attacks, trading steady defense for bursts of high damage. The set supports two- or four-player play and emphasizes asymmetric decks, positioning, and card-driven tactics with deterministic combat resolution.

Regelvragen

Beantwoord vanuit het spelregelboek door de regelassistent van Ludoya.

Do I have to take two actions on my turn? Can I skip an action or end early?

You must take 2 actions and cannot skip an action; you may take the same action twice or two different actions. You also have a hand limit of 7 and must discard down to 7 at the end of your turn (p.5).

When I take a Maneuver, do I draw before moving—and what happens if my deck is empty?

When you Maneuver you first draw the top card (this draw is mandatory) and then may move; if your deck is empty when you must draw your fighters are exhausted and each fighter immediately takes 2 damage (do not reshuffle) (p.5).

How does Boost work—can I discard any card to boost, and does the discarded card’s effect still happen?

To Boost you discard 1 card from your hand and add that card’s BOOST value to your move (ignore any effect text on the discarded card). Cards that can no longer legally be played (e.g., fighter defeated) may still be discarded to boost (p.6).

How is combat resolved and how do I know who won the combat?

Resolve any IMMEDIATELY effects, then DURING COMBAT effects, then compute damage: attacker deals their attack value minus any defense value; AFTER COMBAT effects resolve afterward. The attacker 'won' if they dealt at least one damage from the attack itself; the defender 'won' if they took no damage from the attack itself (p.7).

How do Little Red’s basket and Beowulf’s Rage work?

Little Red’s basket is the top card of her discard pile and effects that use a specific basket item only resolve if that item is shown there; wild basket cards count as any one of the items (p.9). Beowulf starts with 1 Rage, gains 1 Rage whenever he takes damage (can gain multiple times from multiple damage sources), may have up to 3 Rage, and spending Rage for effects is optional (p.9).

Do closed doors block movement, attacks, and zones?

Opening or closing doors is done during a maneuver (you may close an adjacent door for free or spend 1 space to open one), and a closed door treats crossing lines as if they do not exist—this blocks movement and attacks, eliminates adjacency, and breaks up zones (p.9).
