Players recreate the opening of public railway operations in mid-19th-century Switzerland through stock trading, company development, and track building. The game follows a standard 18xx structure: investors buy and sell shares to control railway corporations, operate trains to run routes and earn revenue, and lay track tiles to expand networks across a mountainous map. Special rules model Swiss-specific infrastructure: seven private companies, five mountain railroads, and five tunnel operators interact with fifteen railroad corporations to reflect historical constraints and opportunities. Play emphasizes corporate management, timing of investments, and route planning across challenging terrain.
