After Us

Players lead evolving ape tribes in a post-human world, developing collective intelligence through deck-building and resource management. Each turn, players play and combine cards to generate resources, score points, and recruit new ape types with different abilities. Gameplay centers on creating efficient combos from a starting tamarin deck to attract gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, and mandrills and expand the tribe. The game ends when a player reaches the target victory-point total; the highest scorer prevails in the race to advance the tribe’s knowledge.

After a single game I realized how broken this is. You may have to remove a whole deck to MAYBE make it a little more challenging. Here's hoping for a revised edition or a revised deck of cards to fix this insane imbalance issue.

Dúvidas de regras

Respondidas a partir do manual pelo assistente de regras da Ludoya.

Do I have to activate all frames in my Primate Assembly?

No — activating frames is optional; you may skip some frames and continue resolving your Primate Assembly normally. (p.5)

Can I choose the order in which my frames are resolved?

No — you must resolve the top row first, then the center, then the bottom, and within each row activate frames left to right; you may not change that order. (p.5)

Can I activate an open frame on the edge of my Assembly right away?

No — a frame must be closed to be activated; edge frames are open and must be closed by placing an adjacent card before they can be used. (p.5)

How and when do I activate Objects — when do I pay energy and how often can I use them?

Each object can be activated once per round in the phase shown on the object by spending the energy cost printed on it, and you apply its effect immediately. (p.8, p.12)

When I attract a new ape in Phase 2, when do I pay and what resources are required?

After discs are revealed and bonuses are received, you may attract one ape of the disc’s type by paying the cost shown on the main board (3 resources for level 1, 6 for level 2); the resource type depends on the ape (Mandrills=flowers, Orangutans=fruits, Gorillas=grains) while Chimpanzees accept any single food type. (p.10)

If I copy a neighbor's action disc, what do I get and what does it cost?

You may spend 2 identical resources to copy only the bonus (not the ape type) of a directly adjacent player's disc; you may copy before or after applying your own disc and you may copy only one bonus per round. (p.11)
