Players delve into subterranean locations to hunt forbidden knowledge and encounter new portals and dungeons. The expansion adds 16 Portal cards and 20 Dungeon cards that introduce underground-themed encounters, monsters, and hazards tied to Cthulhu Mythos locales. Play proceeds as in the base Munchkin Cthulhu game: players fight monsters, use items and special abilities, play cards to help or hinder others, and level up.
