Unstoppable

Players take the role of a rising hero from three perilous worlds — a lethal city-planet, predator-filled forests, and a scavenged wasteland — preparing to confront a looming, system-threatening boss. This is a solo or cooperative roguelike deck-builder that emphasizes momentum: players craft cards, build decks, recruit allies, and manage action and card-draw flow to handle an unending stream of threats. Progression comes from training powers, upgrading cards, and balancing resources while keeping personal health and the overall danger level under control. Victory requires defeating the final boss; defeat occurs if a player’s health drops to zero or the global danger level spirals too high.

Definitely one of my favourite solo/2 players deck building games! It's a simple package, for a nice price, but it provides a lot of value and replayability. I really appreciate how you can play relatively differently with the different characters and factions. And even with the combination of them. This reduces the feel-bad variance that is typical of random market card buying. The mechanism to acquire new cards (draw three from a pile, pick one) reduces even further the bad luck in the market. I also like the originality of combining the cards with augments, and how you obtain your cards. Makes the whole thing feel fresh compared to other games. It looks daunting to have to kill enemies to get your cards the first time, specially with the initial set of cards, but you quickly learn how to improve your cards, how to use them, what and what not to kill to survive (the enemies strike hard if not correctly managed) Another thing I value is the length of a game. Not super quick, but not super long either. It's a satisfactory experience: time to build the engine, use it, and then once you're full speed, the game resolves quickly. I have a feeling that this game, which is already great as it is -albeit short-, will be fantastic with even more expansions and cards. It definitely needs more bosses. The 3 bosses provided in the base game are nice enough, specially for the price, and the possibility of playing them in many different ways, but they can do great things with boss design with the mechanics the game provides. I haven't tested it with two players, but seeing as it is the same thing as the solo game applied to each player, with the possibility of helping out each other, I don't think it can go wrong. Nevertheless, as a solo game it's fantastic as it is.

Regelfrågor

Besvarat ur regelboken av Ludoyas regelassistent.

Can I exhaust an ally the same turn I play it?

Yes — playing a card puts it into play core side up, and exhausting is a separate action you may take on allies that are in play, so you may exhaust an ally after you play it during the Main Phase (pages 9–10).

Do Fast and Taunt keywords apply to the on‑deck threat?

Yes — Fast and Taunt can apply while a threat is on top of your deck; Fast also changes how you refill threats (Fast threats don’t count toward the limit of 3 active threats) and Taunt forces you to target Taunt threats whether they’re active or on‑deck (pages 10, 19).

If I deal damage to a threat, does that reduce the damage it deals to me?

No — damage tracked on a threat does not change the damage it deals; each active threat always deals damage equal to its attack value (including any attack from upgrades) (page 11).

When do I level up if my deck runs out—right away or only during Cleanup?

You level up immediately if your deck is empty and there are no active threats during the Main Phase (interrupting the effect), and you also level up immediately during Cleanup if adding new threats empties your deck; follow the five-step leveling process when you level up (pages 11, 13).

How does armor work when I take multiple points of damage, and when does armor reset?

For each point of damage, move the armor marker down one space; if armor reaches zero, remaining damage moves your health marker down; the armor marker is reset to zero during the Cleanup Phase (page 11).

Can I buy an upgrade and put it on a card that’s in my hand, or only on cards in play?

You may buy an upgrade and add it to any tactic or ally card in your hand or in play by sliding it into the sleeve between core and threat; each card can hold up to two upgrades and you then refill the market (page 10).
