Players arrive in a frontier town and take on one of four outsider roles aiming to survive and gain Notoriety. Through an open-world sandbox of work, combat, building, and arson, players spend Grit to earn income, buy gear, recruit a posse, and construct or defend homesteads. Gameplay blends role-playing choices with competitive interaction as characters follow different strengths and weaknesses to pursue merchant, gunslinger, thief, or arsonist paths. Encounters include bandits, predators, cultists, and rival players who can attack, burn cabins, or steal resources, while players develop strategies to outmaneuver opponents and increase their standing.
