Blood & Roses

A tactical wargame that recreates seven battles from the Wars of the Roses (1455–1487), emphasizing heavily armored men-at-arms, widespread infantry fighting, and the introduction of field artillery and handgunners. Players command historical forces on hex maps at 50 yards per hex, maneuvering infantry, cavalry (largely mounted for transport), missile troops and artillery. Play uses a continual-turn system with quick combat resolved by a single die roll, allowing frequent opportunities to interrupt an opponent’s actions. Scenarios range from small, maneuver-focused fights to the large, attritional engagement that uses over 200 combat units and longer playtime. Components include detailed maps, counters, scenario booklet and play aids.
