Players assume the role of allies sent by a wizard to aid the Fellowship as a growing shadow threatens Middle-earth. The game plays as a cooperative escape-style puzzle adventure: players travel to familiar locations, solve logic and observation puzzles using provided cards and components, and follow a narrative of tasks and encounters. Challenges include timed decisions and obstacles such as Nazgûl and orcs, with a moderate difficulty level requiring teamwork and deduction to progress and complete the mission.
