Game Wizards: The Epic Battle for Dungeons & Dragons

This historical account traces the creation and rise of Dungeons & Dragons from a small hobbyist pastime to a mainstream cultural phenomenon. It follows Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson’s collaboration, the founding and expansion of TSR, and Arneson’s departure and legal challenges. The book also examines the Satanic Panic, TSR’s reckless growth and internal conflicts, and Gygax’s struggle to retain control of the company and the game. Drawing on historical records, it presents the competing accounts surrounding the game’s origins and development.
