The Suckering Worm
Monsters gather in an underground gambling ring, paying treasure to enter increasingly prestigious games. In each round, participants bring a single valuable treasure to the group’s next meeting. A secret vote determines which offering is most valuable; its owner claims all treasures except the cheapest, which the hosts keep. Successful and inventive monsters gain access to larger games, while repeated losses can lead to disgrace or disappearance. Players must weigh the chance to win valuable hoards against the risk of losing their treasures—and becoming prey themselves.
