The World at War

A detailed, unofficial expansion of the classic global WWII strategy game that adds new units, rules and a larger map to increase simulation detail. Players control major wartime powers, build and move fleets and armies, conduct amphibious invasions and air campaigns, and research and deploy advanced technologies such as atomic weapons and heavy bombers. New unit types and national special rules (for example paratroopers, destroyers, partisan forces, specialized German and Soviet units, and Japanese suicide tactics) change combat resolution and strategic options. Games use an expanded 24"x36" map (hardback in later editions) and a larger counter pool, and require the base game's components to play.
