Sunrise City

Stack zone and building tiles to develop a city, bid for control of districts, and place buildings for the best scoring opportunities. Role cards provide special abilities during each phase, while score markers advance along a point track. Precise scoring matters: landing exactly on the track’s target earns extra benchmark tokens. After three rounds, the player with the most benchmarks wins.

Short tile laying game where you are trying to get to sets of 10 points whenever possible, while trying to stop your opponents from doing the same, creating a fascinating incentive to score less points than you can sometimes, while perhaps scoring extra for your opponent to stop them from hitting exactly 10. The player powers feel tacked on, and there isn't much strategy to where you are finally able to play tiles because there are so many variables and so much happening between your turns. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ☆ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ★ Multiple plays stay interesting ☆ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★★☆☆ Raw enjoyment
