Tempo

Players take turns acting as the metronome, who keeps a steady 4/4 beat, deals cards, and manages tempo changes throughout the round. Each non‑metronome player receives a card showing a pitch and a rhythmic value (whole, half, quarter, triplet, etc.) and sings their note according to the metronome’s repeated one‑two‑three‑four count, matching duration and syllable division to the card’s rhythm. During the round the metronome passes new cards to players at prescribed points so voices and notes must be switched; no player may hold more than two cards more than another. Mistakes are called by the metronome with “TEMPO!” and penalize the erring player by transferring their highest‑value card to the metronome. Rounds proceed until every player has been metronome once, and the highest total card value wins.
