Andean Abyss

A multi-faction simulation of counterinsurgency and narco-politics in 1990s Colombia. Four asymmetric factions—guerrillas, government security forces, paramilitary/strongmen, and drug-trafficking cartels—use area control, operations, and event cards to expand influence, recruit or coerce population, and secure sanctuaries and revenue. Players place and maneuver wooden pieces on a map, execute operations tied to drawn event cards, and balance military actions, intelligence, foreign aid, and political effects. Most events offer dual options, forcing difficult trade-offs and emergent, unpredictable campaigns. Supports 1–4 players with rules for alliances or AI-controlled factions for solitaire play.
