Colonial Twilight: The French-Algerian War, 1954-62

A two-player asymmetric simulation of the French-Algerian conflict from 1954–62, or a solitaire option with a scripted insurgent opponent. One side plays the insurgent movement, recruiting supporters, organizing networks, and converting popular backing into political power; the other plays the colonial government and military, conducting security operations, political maneuvers, and economic measures to suppress the uprising and maintain authority. Gameplay uses the COIN-series mechanic of action-intensive turns, event cards, and shifting initiative to model competing military, political, and social influence across regions. Players allocate actions, move and muster forces, and exploit events to gain control of population and territory as the conflict evolves.
