The British Way: Counterinsurgency at the End of Empire

Four linked wargames recreate British counterinsurgency campaigns in Palestine, Malaya, Kenya and Cyprus from 1945–1960. Each game models one of those conflicts, pitting British security forces against insurgent actors with differing goals and methods: communist guerrillas, nationalist fighters, and clandestine terrorist cells. Play uses an adapted COIN framework tuned for two-player play and streamlined procedures; players manage operations, influence, and resources while conducting patrols, population control, intelligence, and political actions. The pack presents four distinct scenarios for comparing how varying insurgent strategies and British responses shape operational and political outcomes.
