Cat Box

Players build a communal grid of overlapping quadrant cards that show empty boxes or one of five cats in a box. On a turn, a player places a card over the display, aligning it by one or two quadrants; cards played from a player’s own hand use one face, while cards played from an opponent’s hand use the mirror face. Each player has a secret identity that defines scoring: cat identities score for visible cats of their color and for large contiguous groups, while the chihuahua identity scores for empty boxes and groups of exactly three cats. An advanced variant adds single-use tokens that grant one-time effects.
