Chess: Counterstrike

Chess: Counterstrike is a board game for 2 players. It plays in 5–45 minutes and is meant for ages 8 and up.

A modern chess variant where pieces gain levels and special powers. Players place counters beneath pieces to upgrade them instead of moving, improving attacks, movement, and abilities. Counters can also be placed as landmines to restrict movement and prepare future tactics. Classic chess rules remain in place, while counters introduce new ways to create checks, checkmates, and alternate victory conditions. Players must retain at least one counter at the end of each turn, and can win by controlling three times as many counters as at the start of their turn.
