Artifacts, Inc.

Set in 1929 during a national craze for antiquities, players run competing archaeology companies that mount expeditions to jungles, deserts, mountains and the sea. Players roll dice that represent adventuring troops and assign them to location and asset cards to search for artifacts, sell finds to museums, and acquire buildings and company upgrades. Reputation tracks progress: players score for sold artifacts, museum majorities, successful expedition and building combos, and underwater discoveries. The game ends when a player reaches a reputation threshold; the highest total reputation wins.

I liked this dice-as-workers game a lot more than the game it replaced for me, which was Machi Koro. The group I played it with didn't like it at all however. One person, who loves Machi Koro was annoyed at the random aspects of this game. The other person, thought the added complexity over Machi Koro's meant that the downtime between turns was too long, and he found himself bored by this game. Then, the next week we played Waggle Dance, which is more fun as a short dice-as-workers game, so I didn't want to hold onto this one. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :nostar: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment

Was a fun little light game. We just have plenty of those already!
