Colosseum

Players act as Roman impresarios producing spectacles in their own arenas to attract spectators and earn wealth and glory. On each turn players recruit performers, acquire animals and props, and upgrade their arena to prepare events. They schedule shows, manage resources and invite the Emperor and nobles to boost attendance and rewards. The game resolves a series of events over a fixed campaign, balancing short-term gains against long-term investments to build the most successful sequence of spectacles.

Just not interesting enough to keep it. Boring gameplay.

In this game you control a Colosseum, and try to put on the best event possible across all of the players across all five rounds of the game. Effectively, your score is your best turn. Turns build on each other as you play, and the core piece is collecting the resources you need through bidding and trading. One element that's funny to think about is that you are allowed put on shows with less tiles than the event needs for fewer points. For example, a boat show with no boats, or a lion show with no cages. The magic of this game is also it's flaw. The bids could not go your way, or the players driving the trades might not trade evenly, or with you at all. It's not a bad game, but the idea that a win or loss might not be something you can effect with your own choices and actions keeps this from being a great game. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
