Evan4,6 In this game players are building a grid of city tiles with resources collected from activating the abilities on the tiles. The way you activate is by placing one of your limited number of residence tiles into a row or column then activating each tile in that row or column one at a time working outwards from the tile you placed until you hit another residence or a blank spot. These residence tiles can only ever be activated once more barring any special ability tiles, so generally each chain of tiles has a limited number of activations as you close them off through play. There's an interesting tension here as to when to spend your activations, and what to put next to what so they combo. An oddity of the game is that most of the tiles come out in a totally random order, which means that things don't really ramp up over the course of play, and sometimes tiles you need to produce prerequisites don't make it to the table until late into the game process. I'm not sure how I feel about this element. There's also a single tile in the game that snatches one of the culture VP chips when it gets built. Taking these tiles normally requires several turns of setup and then activations, so it feels really negative when you work hard to line up for one of the final highest scoring tiles, only to have someone snatch it away in a single move. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :nostar: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::star::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
