I giocatori iniziano come forme di vita semplici che colonizzano placche continentali alla deriva sulle prime terre emerse del Fanerozoico. Evolvono tratti, migrano e competono per le risorse mentre gli ambienti cambiano e i continenti si spostano. Il gioco ruota attorno all'adattamento delle specie tramite l'acquisizione di tratti e la speciazione, alla gestione della popolazione e dell'areale e alla risposta alle pressioni ecologiche e agli eventi di estinzione. Il gioco può essere collegato facoltativamente a un titolo precedente, così che lo stato finale di una partita possa influenzare l'inizio di un'altra, ma può essere giocato anche autonomamente.

andycted7,9 9 for theme integration and 7.5 for game mechanics. Excellent theme, one of the best representation in the market. The mechanics are solid and interesting, pretty fun and everything makes sense. But the game is perhaps too long and swingy at the same time, it's more of an experience: what you've done 5-6 turns ago on the map, probably doesn't count much anymore and can be wiped out by a single event. The growth and mutation mechanic is perfect, the interaction is meaningful and felt. Shame that all this is so solid that it would translate to a spreadsheet game, if it wasn't for the events - which however are way too swingy for a 4h game. Compared to another thematic and long game, with totally different mechanics, JoCo, this one feels like going through the motions and hope for the best, while the other keeps things interesting with the negotiation and cooperation, while at the same time adding a crapload of luck. But in that case, I'm more ready to accept it, I haven't worked hard in a Euro-like optimisation and area control game all the time
