Serenissima (Second Edition)

Players act as Renaissance merchant families operating fleets across the Mediterranean, buying, selling and transporting commodities between ports to score victory points. Turns resolve by activating individual numbered galleys: when a galley becomes active its owner may load cargo, move, fight or build, and successive numbers let a player act multiple times in a row. Fleets must be crewed and equipped to attack rival ships, defend ports and take over unprotected harbors. Ports produce different goods and warehouses affect scoring; special rules treat wine and new buildings differently. Random event cards drawn during play create additional counts and income opportunities, and combat, construction costs and recruitment vary from earlier editions.

The components, and board are great. I also like the pickup and delivery aspect as you meet the needs of the locations, they start to produce what you gave them. I wanted to like this game really badly. The issue is with the combat mechanics that don't seem well thought out. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :nostar: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment

A good pick up and deliver game. The turn order mechanism is very interesting but the game requires somebody to constantly alert players that it is there turn. Even with someone doing this the game can play just a little too long for what it is.
