Ancient Terrible Things
Players take the roles of pulp-era adventurers navigating a dark jungle river in search of forbidden secrets. Each turn a player travels to a Fateful Location, resolves an Ominous Encounter and attempts to unlock Ancient Secrets by rolling dice and spending tokens and cards. Dice form combinations (runs, pairs, three+ of a kind, or a single die at or above a target) to meet Encounter requirements and claim points or resources. Resources include Focus (re-roll individual dice), Courage (pay before rolling to overcome an Encounter), Treasure (buy permanent Swag from the Trading Post) and Feat (play one-shot Feat cards). The game ends at the Unspeakable Event; highest total of recovered Secrets wins.

Not a bad game. I love the art and the dice rolling mechanics, but it feels a bit abstract. The theme is pasted on. You don't really feel like an explorer going into the jungle of Africa. Nevertheless, it has some tension and strategy.
