玩家们通过将手牌打到中央牌堆，努力成为第一个出完手牌的人；而且游戏明确允许作弊，将其作为一种策略。打出的牌必须以某种方式与牌堆顶牌匹配，许多昆虫牌还会赋予特殊能力，改变游戏进程。 其中一名玩家担任看守者；如果看守者抓到作弊的玩家，被抓到的玩家须保留原本要打出的牌，拿走看守者的一张牌，并与看守者交换身份。玩家还可以尝试偷走位于自己与邻居之间的蚱蜢牌；如果成功且未被发现，该邻居必须从牌堆抽两张牌。
