Ceylan
Players act as pioneers building the island’s tea industry in nineteenth-century Ceylon. They place and upgrade plantations across districts and altitudes, produce tea, and negotiate sales to export companies. Influence is gained by courting district counselors and players develop technologies that improve production and logistics. Victory points come from planted districts, fulfilled export demands, technological advancement, and accumulated cash.

CEYLON – Highly illustrated review (in french) in link. This is a really interesting and nice looking family boardgame to warm head and body at tea time. No down time, a lot of interaction, nice components and still excellent with 2p ! An excellent 8.5-9/10 with BGG rating system. Garfield5,0 I hoped for a better game. At the end it's a area control game without interaction/combats. And I don't like the fact that you can't store more than 5 goods in your storage, just to prevent you from selling twice in the same round. And I disliked the big luck factor in drawing the action cards. If you're unlucky you keep drawing things you can't use. Evan5,9 In this game players walk around a grid of hexes planting tea, harvesting tea and using the tea to fulfill recipes from a display at the top of the board. There are also actions that get you additional action tokens, or buy into a special ability along with the right to be involved in a majority scoring for the matching section of the board. Your planting and harvesting process relies on the position of a meeple you walk around the map. You can harvest from opponent's planted fields if you are willing to score them a point. The action selection process is fueled by a delightful process of you playing a card into the center. The card has two actions, or two pass actions. You get to resolve either the ability on one half the card, or do either of the pass actions, then each other player gets to resolve the ability on the other half of the card and then do either of the pass actions. The game ends when the deck of cards runs out which happens faster than you'd think. There is some flip luck involved in the game, and the majorities process can feel a little rough since moving around the board quickly can be very expensive both in terms of having to pay for steps in addition to the first, and also in terms of spending you action opportunity on the pass action of walking in the first place. That being said, when you take the "technology" action, you get an extra action token that can be spent to do any action you want in addition to your normal turn, so there's mitigation. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::star::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
