Steel Driver

I giocatori vestono i panni di broker d’investimento che sviluppano compagnie ferroviarie in tutto il Nord America, puntando cubi d’investimento per ottenere il controllo delle società e costruire binari. A ogni turno, i giocatori assegnano cubi a un massimo di sei compagnie per ottenere una singola quota di controllo e fornire a tali compagnie le risorse necessarie per posare binari verso località associate a valori di profitto. Dopo la costruzione, le compagnie pagano i profitti ai loro controllori attuali; i profitti si azzerano a ogni turno e il denaro guadagnato serve solo come punti vittoria, non per le puntate future. La partita si svolge in cinque round, con ripetute aste e fasi di costruzione dei binari, e termina con un pagamento finale basato sull’estensione della rete di ciascuna compagnia nelle varie regioni.

This is a quick playing, dry-looking but satisfying game for 6. In this game, players bid over 5 rounds for control of the 6 companies. Winning the bid lets you spend your bid to lay track and collect money. At the end of the game, whoever has the most winning bids for each of the companies get to collect cubes from the board, trying to complete sets for bonus points. It's simple to play and quite elegant. In terms of the route building it's similar to Milestones, and in terms of bidding for the companies, it's similar to Imperial 2030.
