Players take on the roles of 17th-century adventurers operating from a Portuguese trading post in the Far East. The game runs twelve rounds in which players draft cards from a rotating display and deploy action cubes via a shared dice-selection mechanism. Each round one player rolls six colored dice; every player then picks two dice and places cubes on a personal ship's wheel according to the colors and values chosen. Ship wheels advance each round, producing a pool of cubes that can be spent to activate cards, buy city quarters, collect goods, move ships around Europe to deliver cargo, gain coins, or take special card actions. Points come from delivering goods, spending coins, using card powers, and building in the city. The game emphasizes planning card drafts and timing cube activations across the twelve rounds.
